For many years I didn't show my photos of forests and trees to anyone. I always filmed and photographed a lot on my forest hikes, but the result was never as strong as the feeling of being there. Therefor I couldn't show it. Close to trees I experienced timelessness and the feeling of being part of something big. As long as I lived in Copenhagen, my visits in the forest, was somehow sacred and I didn't manage to represent it in pictures. But when I moved out on the countryside, I physically, became part of the forest and the trees. They became everyday life and spiritual at the same time. I build a dark room in my house and started to experiment with liquid photographic emulsion. The liquid emulsion gave something organic to the photography, the surface became less flat and the emulsion created movement. I could spread the emulsion with a brush or my fingertips so it created fog banks, not present in the negative. Thicker emulsion somehow gave more humidity to the air. The image became something in its own right, not just a representation of reality.
