Nordic Sentinel: In Search Of A Safe Harbor

I created Nordic Sentinel during my month long residency at the Hollufgård Artist Residency in Odense, Denmark. After studying Nordic mythology I decided to use an icon of a Viking ship to sit atop the Sentinel. The symbol of the Nordic Goddess Freya guides the ship to a safe harbor in troubling times. Suspended from the two outstretched arms are two gold-leafed leaves which spin in the wind and remind us of being grounded in the earth.
